There's plenty of wildlife action for all the family next week at the National Trust's Colby Woodland Garden starting Tuesday evening, August 23, 6-8 pm, with an opportunity to learn about falconry and watch the Harris hawk's spectacular flight through the woods with Ian Farmer, of Walking with Hawks.
On Wednesday and Thursday evening, August 24 and 25, Colby will be hosting family friendly Twilight Walks in partnership with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park rangers. Discover the secret life of the woodlands as darkness falls - you might even be lucky enough to see one of the rare Lesser Horseshoe bats which inhabit the Colby estate.
Maria Evans, of Tinker's Hill Trust, will be bringing along some owls to set the twilight scene.
Tickets are £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children and includes refreshments. Booking is essential so please ring the National Trust Shop at Colby on 811885 to reserve your place.
As well as the evening events, there is also wildlife action in the daytime.
On Wednesday, August 24, there's a chance to go pond dipping with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park ranger Kiri Howell and the next day, you can go butterfly and dragonfly hunting with National Trust expert Richard Ellis.
These are great opportunities for children, and adults, to get up close and personal with all kinds of wildlife - and collect your free Wild Child activity book.
These activities run from 11 am until 3.30 pm and cost just £2 per child, plus the normal admission.
Telephone 811885 for more information. No need to book for daytime activities.
