The Saundersfoot Community Lottery has been officially launched this month, an ideal way to encourage support for the village and, at the same time, give those who play a chance to win some cash!

Many people cherish Saundersfoot, whether they call it home or visit regularly, and the village is celebrated for its strong community spirit. However, despite this support, smaller events and projects in the Pembrokeshire seaside village often struggle due to funding shortages, and the application process for some funding pots can be cumbersome for small amounts.

To create a funding stream to bridge that gap, former County Councillor Phil Baker and Regency Hall Trustee Sue Boughton-Thomas came up with the idea of the Saundersfoot Community Lottery.

A group of volunteers has been working tirelessly to establish the lottery, ensuring that all necessary licenses and regulations are adhered to, ensuring a fair, safe and enjoyable experience for players.

Local businesses have also been generous with their time and skills - including Anne Meredith of Sterling Designs who designed the logo, Phill Bernier from Adira Ltd who designed the website, and Gareth Davies Photography who donated the photographs on the website.

Each ticket costs just £5 per month, providing players with a chance to win various cash prizes. Fifty percent of the total pot is allocated for prizes, while the other half - minus a small administration fee - goes to a fund to support local initiatives. So, even if players don’t win, their participation contributes to events and projects in the village.

Participation is open to anyone 18 or older with a UK bank account, so players don’t have to be a resident of Saundersfoot to join in. Once payment is set up, tickets will automatically be entered into the monthly lottery until players choose to opt out.

Forms can be obtained at The Regency or people can sign up online at www.saundersfootcommunitylotto.org. Players are encouraged to follow the SCLotto Facebook page for updates on prize draws, news, and information.
