MANORBIER & District Gardening Club has attracted many new members this year, enjoying a number of varied and interesting visits and talks this summer.
Visits have included a a fascinating tour of Springfield Nursery in Manorbier; Upton Castle, with its wonderful sculptures; and the award winning Coreside Nursery, where the visitors were inspired by the nursery’s creativity in displaying succulents and hardy exotic plants.
The club has also been pleased to welcome speakers such as Dan from Grandiflora Plant and Garden Centre in St Florence, who gave a tree planting demonstration and very kindly donated two fruit trees to the Community Garden at Giraldus Centre. Most recent speaker was the renowned Richard Brambley from Farmyard Nurseries in Llandysul, who gave an entertaining talk on how to keep colour in gardens late into the season.
Next meeting will be on Thursday, October 17, 7.30pm, welcoming photographer John Archer Thompson; he will give a presentation on Pembrokeshire flowers. There will be a raffle, a plant and magazine table and refreshments.
Everyone is welcome to go and meet this friendly group of garden and wildlife enthusiasts, where members also swap tips and advice on gardening. Visitors are asked to pay a small admission fee.
