Local Assembly Member Angela Burns was delighted to meet representatives from Heritage Lottery Fund and Narberth Museum during an exhibition at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to commemorate the centenary of the battle of the Somme in the First World War.

Mrs. Burns said: “These letters are a memory of a time that was both terrible and courageous and it is thanks to Daniel and Pauline and especially volunteers like Sandra Benham-Pellowe that we have these reminders of a time long past, but never to be forgotten.

“These young boys and men stepped out of their front doors to fight in a war that many did not understand. They did it out of duty and love and through these letters we learn the stories of their lives as they battled through each day in a war that claimed millions of lives and left many more coming home to a confused and uncertain future.”
