The good news is that Narberth library is re-opening on September 28; the slightly less good news is that it will not be quite the same as it was before.
Members will not be able to go and browse the shelves and select books, nor will the computers be available for public use.
If you want library books, it will be necessary to phone the library first, or select them on the Pembrokeshire Libraries website.
Only books that are actually on the shelves of Narberth library will be available to borrow.
Then you will be given a time slot to bring back any books you may already have and collect your new ones.
It may be necessary, when you ‘phone, to ask the librarian to choose books on your behalf.
You could indicate your favourite authors and ask for books by those writers, or something similar.
Alternatively, you could put a note through the library letterbox, with details of your choice, your name and card number and your phone number and the library will contact you.
You can also return books via the letterbox at any time, providing they fit! There won’t be any fines.
The library will only be open to book time slots to come to the library on Tuesdays between 3 and 5 pm, and Saturdays 10 to 12 midday.
However, there will be volunteers answering the phone for orders or other queries between 3 and 5 pm on Mondays, and 10 to 12 on Fridays, though the library will not be open for members of the public at those times.
The phone number for Narberth Library is 01437 775650 and anyone is very welcome to ring on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at the times given.
All requests for books can be made on the Pembrokeshire Libraries internet site at any time, with the added benefit of the catalogue to show what books are available in Narberth.
The Friends of Narberth Library volunteers are very much looking forward to welcoming back all members.
