MILFORD Haven School’s Tags on the Tree project has been running for a number of very successful years, each year supporting Defender House chosen charity PATCH and their annual Toy Appeal.

In early November, a very special Christmas tree was decorated with tags, each tag featuring the anonymised details of a child living within the local community. These are all children who are affected by deprivation and have been referred to PATCH for the Toy Appeal.

All members of the school staff team were invited to take part in Tags on the Tree by choosing a tag, buying a gift for that child and popping it back under the tree. The presents were then collected by PATCH in time for delivery for Christmas.

After a successful year in 2023 launching the initiative within the community, the school teamed up with the charity to take the project Pembrokeshire-wide, introducing multiple new locations including Milford Haven and Neyland Library, Hubberston and Hakin Community Centre, Milford Youth Matters Pop Up Shop, B-Fit Gym, Pembroke Leisure Centre and Ysgol Harri Tudur.

The school expressed much gratitude to the community for supporting the initiative and thank the three locations for getting involved and helping the project to expand far past the gates of Milford Haven School. They are especially thankful to Milford Haven Round Table who kindly purchased 15 tags from the Milford Haven School tree.

On Tuesday, December 17 over 250 presents were delivered to PATCH for the children of the community. This is evidence that together people can make a real difference to local families and the Christmas they experience. The school is very proud to be supporting the PATCH Charity Toy Appeal.
