THE Global Darwin Doodle competition has been extended until March 15, 2024.

The lucky winner, a young person up to the age of 18 years accompanied by an adult, will embark on the trip of a lifetime to the Galapagos Islands for a week in late April. They will meet project leader and visionary Stewart McPherson, a doppelganger for a young Charles Darwin, and some of the 200 esteemed Darwin leaders.

The winner will have the special opportunity to conduct hands-on experiments, go aboard the magnificent tall ship Oosterschelde, tour around the picturesque harbour, join elite conservationists for a meal, and observe them conducting ground breaking experiments. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will allow the winner to walk in Darwin's footsteps through the islands that inspired his theory of evolution.

Over 150 entries have already been received, many of which from Pembrokeshire pupils.

Darwin200 director Andrew Fox said: “The quality of entries so far has been outstanding, and we want to give as many children and teens as possible the opportunity to win this life-changing prize.”

Joe Whale, better known as The Doodle Boy, has been tasked with picking the winner of the doodle competition.

Samantha Williams, manager of the Dragon LNG Darwin Experience said: “The competition is open to anyone aged 4 – 18 years old, they can upload a photo of their nature inspired doodle, drawing, painting or model to wakelet.com to be in with a chance of winning a trip to the Galapagos and Doodle Boy merchandise.”
