A St Florence family are offering a reward for anyone who can help locate their missing cat and reunite him with his pining sister.
Jo Lewis and her family who live at Cadwallader Court in the village adopted Ted and his sister Evie from Greenacres Animal Rescue centre back in August of last year.
“Both kittens had had a very sad start to life and this is where the wonderful Greenacres team stepped in and the kittens were hand reared by a lovely lady called June,” explained Jo.
“Following a house visit, June entrusted Ted and Evie to our family to adopt, both kittens were incredibly bonded and up to Ted’s disappearance inseparable.”
However, earlier this month, on Thursday, October 8, Ted went out and hasn’t come home since.
Both Ted and Evie are well known in the local area and up to his disappearance the family have received many reported sightings of both playing, running through St Florence park, along fields, gardens, the grounds of Ivy Tower Cottages and the next couple of houses further along.
“Our village community has been amazing, we posted in the #StFloCommunity group Facebook page and messages of support soon came flooding in,” continued Jo.
“Their kindness has been staggering, spending hours searching the fields, Flemish Woods behind where we live in Cadwallader Court, opening up holiday homes.
“A member of the football club even offered to open up The Village Hall and changing rooms. Nothing has been too much trouble.
“We followed this with letter drops, posters, even our local postman heard of our search and offered to look out for Ted on his rounds.”
However despite much searching there have been no further sightings of Ted since Friday, October 9
“We have no idea what to do next...not only the agony of not knowing what has happened to Ted...has he been taken, is he trapped?” said Jo.
We have the worry of Evie his sister pining. Her character has become withdrawn from the happy playful little thing to spending time staring out the window waiting for Ted. It is heartbreaking to witness. They literally have never been apart, eating, sleeping, playing, trips to the vets, always together.
“This is a public thank you to the lovely people of St Florence and also a public plea for information about Ted our beautiful rescue cat’s disappearance .
“Ted is microchipped, neutered and registered with Fenton Vets in Pembroke Dock. They are aware and saddened to hear of his disappearance having been fully involved in the care and nurture of Ted when he was very young and under the care of Greenacres.
“We are offering a reward for information leading to Ted’s safe return home,” added Jo who can be contacted on 07879 470665.
