Jodie O’Connor, Managing Quantity Surveyor at Penfro Consultancy in Pembroke Dock, has officially been awarded Chartered status by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), at an award ceremony at their Headquarters in London, marking a significant milestone in her professional career.
A former Greenhill School pupil and Construction GCSE achiever, Jodie pursued her passion for the built environment by studying Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at the University of South Wales in Pontypridd. Following her graduation, she gained extensive experience in the construction sector in Cardiff, rising through the ranks to become a Senior Cost Consultant.
In 2021, Jodie returned to her roots in Pembrokeshire to take on a senior position at Penfro Consultancy Limited, a local practice specialising in Quantity Surveying, Cost Consultancy, and Commercial Management. She was recently promoted to Managing Quantity Surveyor and now leads a team of graduates and apprentices.
Her current portfolio includes projects ranging from new social housing developments, restoration of listed buildings and major new build commercial and residential projects worth several million pounds.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jodie is a passionate advocate for STEM education and is actively involved in outreach initiatives with schools, colleges, and Careers Wales. She is particularly committed to encouraging women and girls to consider careers in construction and STEM fields.
Achieving Chartered status with the RICS is no small feat and reflects years of rigorous preparation and study. Jodie’s dedication to her continued professional development is evident in every aspect of her work.
Penfro Consultancy director Rob Davies praised her achievement: “We are extremely proud of the additional effort and commitment Jodie has shown in achieving her RICS Chartered status alongside her responsibilities at Penfro Consultancy. She consistently rises to the challenges of the industry and is a vital part of our company’s growth.”
