Five talented young people from across Pembrokeshire have been picked by the judges to perform at a public show at Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard on Saturday, May 3.
These young artists and performers have been selected as finalists from all those who have been busy applying for Abigail’s Arts Award!
The finalists performing this year include two singer songwriters, a harpist, a guitarist and a film maker. They’ll be performing alongside last year’s winners - 18 year old trumpeter Carys Wood from Saundersfoot, 22 year old musician Lewis Harrison from Milford and 21 year old vocalist Tarish Mathews from Fishguard.
Two winners will be chosen on the day and they will each walk away with a £500 bursary to help them in their career.
The organisers hope that the community will get behind the young artists and performers and book their tickets to enjoy an exciting show focusing on local talent:
“This year the audience will also be treated to a welcome message from Welsh actor, writer and comedian Griff Rhys Jones. Griff recently performed at Theatr Gwaun to sell-out audiences and is now our Patron. He is keen to show his support for up and coming Welsh talent.”
Abigail’s Arts Award, which launched in 2022, is aimed at 16 to 25 year olds living in Pembrokeshire who need help pursuing their dreams of working in the creative or performing arts. It was named after Abigail Goswell, who lived in Fishguard towards the end of her life and died from secondary breast cancer at the age of 47.
