The First XV travelled to Gorseinon in the last of the three first round matches in the Division 1 WRU Cup competition, with the coaches hoping for an improved performance, despite the fact that the side would not progress into the next stage. The visitors played with a lot of spirit but the home side proved a very capable and determined opponent, eventually running out worthy winners by 38-3.

Aberystwyth withdrew from their Tigers fixture; the Tigers then secured an alternative home fixture with Carmarthen Athletic, but sadly they pulled out on Saturday morning.

The Youth played Gorseinon at home in the WRU Youth Cup Round 1, in tough, wet, very windy conditions, in front of a large crowd, swelled by a large travelling support. The visitors looked a well drilled and capable outfit from the start; their pack established a solid foothold and provided endless quality ball for their very efficient, speedy and skilful backs and they regularly took the ball wide to score six excellent tries, with their No 8 also showing his pace to score twice wide out. The home side showed a lot of spirit and scored one try in the second half after some excellent work from their industrious forwards. But the relentless work of the visitors’ forwards and the determined running and skills of their two very accomplished centres, allowed the visitors run out worthy winners by 5-38.

There are no senior men’s fixtures this weekend as it’s the first weekend of the Autumn International series, with Wales due to take on New Zealand. The next scheduled First XV fixture is against Aberystwyth at home on November 12, which will be sponsored by Richard and Joey Jones and family, and the Match Ball by Kevin Watts.

The Panthers did not have a game last weekend and are due to play Porthcawl at home on Sunday KO 2.30pm.

One of the club’s regular Tigers has been travelling in USA in recent months and reported that he had been drafted in to play for Boulder RFC versus Colorado Springs Warriors RFC in their local League (In the picture above, Darcy is held aloft by team mates).

The club held a very successful and enjoyable Halloween evening for members last weekend; everyone would like to thanks Laura and her helpers for the great evening. The next social event is a LADIES NIGHT due to take place on Saturday November 26, followed by a QUIZ NIGHT on Friday December 2, the Boxing Day match and a bumper night planned for New Years Eve, when there will be two entertainers performing; tickets are due to go on sale very shortly.

The Draw for the four Wales v New Zealand match tickets took place last Saturday evening, with Emily Warm being the successful winner.
