Bouyed by their superb victory over holders Cresselly in the quarter-finals of the Harrison?Allen Bowl two days earlier, Saundersfot continued their excellent form in Saturday’s Thomas Carroll division one clash with Llangwm.

The visitors, currently languishing at the bottom of the table, just had no answer to the batting power of their hosts, who racked up a formidable total of 275 for 5 in their allotted overs, Nicky Cope leading the charge with a hard-hitting 119.

And when it was their turn to bat, Llangwm were again put to the sword, this time by bowler Sam Franklin, who returned impressive figures of 5 for 69 as they were skittled out for 144, some 131 runs short of their target.

Perhaps the match of the day, though, came at Lawrenny, where there was a nail-biting finish in the match against near neighbours Cresselly.

First at the crease, Cresselly posted a useful total of 172 for 8, skipper Ryan Lewis top scoring with an unbeaten 62, while Brad Jenkins was the pick of the home bowlers with a spell of 3 for 24.

Replying, Simon Cole did his best to keep Lawrenny in check as he picked up three wickets at a cost of 36, but James Phillips kept the scoreboard ticking over with a solid knock of 68 and laid the foundation for a tense climax... the last pair being at the wicket when the home side eventually reached their victory target.

A few miles up the road, Carew also enjoyed victory, although there’s was a little more comfortable as they took advantage of Haverfordwest’s recent poor form to romp home by seven wickets.

The Town batsmen again struggled and only managed to reach a total of 136 as Tom Davies and Rhys Davies ripped the heart out of their innings with 4 for 29 and 3 for 33, respectively.

Tom Davies also wielded the willow to good effect when it was Carew’s turn to take strike, smashing an excellent 54 to help his side home for the loss of just three wickets, Ian Sefton, 37, and Tim Hicks, 26, also chipping in with useful knocks.
