This “iconic” Georgian mansion sits in the centre of National Trust woodlands - and now it could be yours.
Colby Lodge, in Amroth, is Grade II listed and was built in 1803 by local mine owner John Colby.
In the 1870s, the estate become the property of the Kay family, and in the early 20th century was inherited by Colonel and Mrs Crosland, who were the main creators of the Woodland Gardens currently cared for by the National Trust.
Period features of the house include moulded architraves, a coloured glass window, stone-vaulted cellars and Corinthian columns.
Entering the home, the main hallway connects all of the principal rooms on the ground floor, with an archway on the left leading to the kitchen, which was remodelled by the current owners and includes a walk-in pantry.
Also on this side of the home is the drawing room, with a large window overlooking the grounds, and a utility/boot room with a stable door out to the courtroom.
On the right side of the hallway is the dining room, featuring two Corinthian columns, a fireplace, a large picture window and curved doors, as well as the library, which includes an ornate fireplace, full-length windows to the south and west, and fitted bookshelves.
Completing the ground floor is a cloakroom and a grand sweeping staircase with a mahogany handrail and a coloured glass window part-way up.
At the top of the staircase is the master bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom, a dressing room, built-in wardrobes, a picture window and a feature fireplace.
The office/study can be accessed directly from the master suite and has its own fireplace, while the second bedroom also features an en-suite bathroom.
Upstairs, the second floor landing offers access to a further three bedrooms and two family bathrooms.
As well as the main house, there is a self-contained two-bedroom annexe, including a kitchen and dining room, a living room and a bathroom.
The grounds are made up of four gardens, with ancient oaks and rare trees throughout, including lime trees.
In the grounds are a greenhouse, a stone-built store, a double garage and a two-storey outbuilding.
The property is surrounded by nearly 900 acres of National Trust woodland gardens, and is a short walk away from the beach.
The property is being sold by estate agents Country Living Group for a price of £1,250,000.
The agent commented: “Occupying a commanding position in one of Pembrokeshire’s most iconic woodland settings, this stunning residence is a truly remarkable proposition.
“The manor house offers five lavish bedrooms and four reception rooms spread over three floors. Colby Lodge also benefits from a self-contained two bedroom annex.
“Surrounding the home are beautiful gardens extending to several acres that echo all the grandeur and character of this amazing estate.”
