Work has begun on the former Wilko store in Pembroke Dock after external works to create a new Home Bargains discount store for the town was given the go-ahead by Pembrokeshire County Council planners in March.

Home Bargains has become one of the biggest privately-owned companies in the UK with more than 550 stores and plans to expand to over 1,000.

The c1970s retail unit in Pier Road will see a new shopfront, new goods doors and refurbishment works.
