A virtual community engagement meeting is being held to raise awareness and understanding, for people interested in becoming a councillor.
Pembrokeshire County Council is organising the online event, which will take place on Wednesday, January 19 at 7 pm and last for one hour.
The hour-long session will be an opportunity to promote Democracy at Work – and enable members of the public to engage in meaningful dialogue to fully understand the Councillor role and how you can make a difference.
Members of the public are encouraged to submit two questions to the Panel which will comprise Members of the Democratic Services Committee and Elections and Democratic Services Officers.
The event has been rescheduled from a previous date in November last year.
David Simpson, Leader of the Council, said: “We want the event to be a call to action for people to get involved in democracy and the 2022 Local Elections.
“It will be a chance for communities to hear about the incredible work our Councillors and Cabinet Members are doing to help make a difference – and raise awareness to empower communities to understand the work undertaken.”
The event will be hosted on the Teams Livestream platform and enable people to find out more – and hopefully join the debate.
Questions must be submitted via email to: [email protected] before 12 noon on Monday, January 17.
The panel members will answer key issues on the role, why they chose to do it and what to expect as you go through your democratic journey. Enquiries may be rejected if they are considered to be defamatory, frivolous or offensive.
The link to watch the live stream will be published in the week of the event.
