Over £4,500 has been raised for a new playground thanks to the fundraising efforts of neighbouring villages Kilgetty and Begelly.
The Kilgetty and Begelly Village Fete on August 27 raised £3,100, with cash donations of £1,300 from Sponsors including Folly Farm, Kingsmoor Sport Club, Station Road Garage, Dash for Ash, Tuk Tuk, Kilgetty Laundry Services, Kilgetty Friendship Club, Kilgetty & Begelly Community Council, Kilgetty Arts & Craft club and Kilgetty Cricket Club.
The raffle raised £756 all the prizes were donated by the following business: Twisted Tangles, Folly Farm, Station Road Garage, Tuk Tuk, Kilgetty Fish Bar, Rib & Oyster, Dragon Palace, Lokky’s, The Co-Op, Lillie Coffee shop (Narberth), Kilgetty Pharmacy, Bridge Stores, Spartan Motor Factors, Ultracomida (Narberth), Chris and Grant Watkins.
SCAFFOLD 2000 supplied the stage; the organisers are grateful to Paul and his team.
There were many stalls and they donated over £600 to the fund.
Although the sun didn’t shine on the day, the rain stayed away until 5pm, making for a very successful day, including demonstrations and performances by Robbie Gould - singer; the Wales Rock Choir and Greenacres Rescue dog show. The Dynamic Dance School put on a wonderful display of dancing, with some of the children under 6 years old!
The children enjoyed a ‘school sports day’ event and they all received a medal.
On the following Saturday, the Begelly Arms and Kilgetty Friendship Club organised an evening of entertainment which raised over £1,400, with the Begelly Arms donating £900 and the raffle adding another £500.
The two events raised over £4,500 in total. Thanks go to everyone who attended the two events, those who took part on the day, and those who made donations of cash and or raffle prizes; also to those who helped to organise the two events and giving up their time over the months beforehand. This is just the start needed as fund raising for the playground continues, so watch this space for the next event!
