The ‘Together Stronger’ group of volunteers from Tenby have been back in action helping vulnerable people during the ‘fire-break’ lockdown in Wales.
During the nationwide lockdown, the helpers who set up the ‘Together Stronger’ Facebook group were busy collecting boxes of food for vulnerable/disabled/shielding adults, children and key workers, and have now continued that work in the community, with the latest Welsh lockdown set to end on November 9.
This time group volunteers have been helping South Pembs Hospital who were desperately short on hygiene products for patients and toiletries, and have now had items delivered to them thanks to donations, and even seamstresses making much needed wash bags.
The group’s volunteering co-ordinator Julie Wickland and her team has thanked Morrisons and Tesco in Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock Tesco, and the Co-op store in Tenby for donations to the cause.
Thanks have also gone to seamstresses Alice Cahill at The Sewing Unit and Flavia Santos at Seam Shop for kindly donating washbags.
The ‘Together Stronger’ team have now started a collection for the children’s ward at Withybush Hospital.
“The nurse has told me they get gifted little Lego sets and mainly items for bigger children but they could do with items like little cars, little soft toys, colouring books etc for the toddlers. If anyone can help, items need to be new with labels on,” said Julie.
