Tenby Memory Café is beginning the new year on a really positive footing. The group has been very fortunate in the past year, having received some very generous donations and has been in receipt of a variety of grants.
Although named the Tenby Memory Café (TMC), the members of the committee are dedicated to supporting those in the locality living with dementia throughout the south of the county. With this is mind, TMC recently applied to the Enhancing Pembrokeshire Fund and has been granted capital to support the project to make Saundersfoot a Dementia Friendly village. Very generous donations were also made by St Mary’s Church in Tenby, Saundersfoot Treasure Chest and Grace Church which meets at the Regency Hall. The Café continues to be indebted to the Giltar Hotel on Tenby’s Esplanade for its ongoing welcome and support every month. To add the icing on the cake, TMC will be the recipient of a quarter of the income from the recent Boxing Day Swim! Such generosity is very greatly appreciated by everyone concerned.
The healthy bank balance enables TMC to offer complimentary transport to the various events for those who would like to attend but do not have their own transport. There will be a 15-mile radius of Tenby limit to this facility and notice will need to be given by those wishing to access the service. Crow Cabs of Penally - a well-established, reliable and respected company - will endeavour to provide comfortable and safe transport for TMC guests and their carers.
A different activity is offered each Wednesday. The poster being circulated clearly lists the locations and the times of the get-togethers. So, if you would like to begin 2023 making new friends, taking part in enjoyable events and mixing with like-minded folk, passionate about making living with dementia as positive as possible, please do come along to some of the meetings. Have a look at tenbymemorycafe.org and see what’s available.
