Kind-hearted chip shop owners in Tenby are offering a generous gesture towards the homeless community this festive period.
Tenby’s Traditional Fish & Chips located on Trafalgar Road will be offering any homeless people a free meal and a hot drink at their premises any time of the day during their opening dates between Boxing Day until January 4.
The chip shop, which will be open from 11.30 am to 8.30 pm over these dates, say they came up with the welcoming gesture as it was ‘heartbreaking’ to see homeless people walking around Tenby ‘lonely and cold’.
“I come from a poor family, and I was brought up in Swansea where there's a big homeless problem, so I'm very aware of the issue,” said ths chip shop’s owner Daniel Wilcox.
“We see the homeless and the needy in Tenby as well, and it's heartbreaking thinking of them walking round in the cold and being on their own and lonely, especially at Christmas.
“They always have a place in my heart, and it's nice to be able to help, and to raise awareness.
“They can come in and sit down in the warm any time and they will be very welcome,” he added.
