A Dylan Thomas birthday walk has been created in Carmarthenshire to promote the poetry of the bard.

The trail, created by project organiser Bob Stevens, is especially linked to Dylan's work 'Poem in October' describing his walk to the shoulder of Sir John's Hill.

Mr. Stevens said: "I have created a themed walk based on this poem dividing the well loved poem into four panels with bench seating, where you can walk in Dylan's footsteps and interpret and see the view and context of the poem."

The walk is approximately two miles long, where views can be enjoyed of the estuary, Dylan's boathouse, the Gower, North Devon, Caldey Island and Tenby. The walk can be done at any time throughout the year.

The boathouse, owned by Carmarthenshire County Council, serves as a museum. It is open to the public throughout the year and contains Thomas memorabilia and some of the original furniture.

Mr. Stevens added: "All to do the same as Dylan, and return to that high hill on their own birthday, and read out Dylan's prophetic last verse thereby creating a modern day pilgrimage for all to enjoy."

To make a birthday walk extra special, complimentary gifts can be redeemed from participating businesses. A form of photograph ID must be shown and the line 'Oh may my hearts truth still be snug' should be recited.
