Season’s Greetings to all readers from everyone on Narberth Town Council and its community.
Well as another year closes I must firstly thank everyone who has worked hard over this festive period from the teachers at the local schools arranging all the nativity plays, to the finest butchers in town preparing the meat for customers at Christmas to right down to our local foodbank and community fridge who made sure people didn’t go without food this Christmas.
I believe whilst 2019 is coming to a close – Narberth has a very exciting 2020 to look ahead to with the re-opening of The Angel Inn in the Spring, the Old School development starting to move forward and with more and more businesses looking to invest in our High Street.
I want to take this opportunity to also thank all the community groups I have been able to get involved in since my appointment as Mayor in May.
I am extremely proud of our Community Groups and the volunteers who give up so much time voluntarily to make Narberth a better place. There is so much that happens in Narberth yet we only see a small portion of it.
Anyone who knows me well – knows I take my role as Mayor very seriously and take the honour of wearing my chain proudly.
Narberth has such a fantastic reputation around Pembrokeshire being a ‘lovely little town’ yet I believe it is much more than that its one of Pembrokeshire’s best places to visit to not just shop but to eat, stay and explore too.
Thank you to Narberth Chamber of trade who once again have worked tirelessly in coming together this festive period and with Brexit looming just around the corner, I am sure our High Street will once again come together and hurdle over any obstacles in its way.
Finally, on a more saddened note: I must pay tribute to Mrs Gwen Hood who was Narberth’s eldest resident at the grand age of 103 who recently passed away.
This summer I had the honour of celebrating her fantastic achievement at Narberth Civic Week.
Mrs. Hood was someone who was always willing to support local events within the town I must say is a huge loss to the community.
I send my condolences to the family of Mrs. Hood not only as Mayor but as Chairman of Narberth Civic Week
On behalf of Narberth Town Council, my mum (Mayoress Linda Walters) and my Deputy Mayor Clr. Sue Rees may I wish everyone a Happy New Year and to a Successful 2020!
Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Chris Walters
