he cast and crew of Saundersfoot Footlights enjoyed an extra special rehearsal on Sunday when they were joined by two very special guest choreographers.

Maggie Paterson, principal of Pineapple Performing Arts School in London, and Joanne Jollie, a professional choreographer, spent the day with the cast, turning the Regency Hall into a West End dance studio. The cast were certainly put through their paces as Maggie and Joanne worked with them on a number of routines which will all feature in Footlights’ upcoming show.

Following the success of last year’s show Lifetime!, which was written and produced by society members, and a sell-out panto, the team are now creating another original show. Pingleford Players Proudly Present! tells the story of a fictional am-dram society as they try to decide which show to put on for their 40th anniversary. Like Lifetime!, this year’s show will be packed full of songs from the musicals and a cast of wonderful characters.

Director Allison Butler said: “It really is a case of art imitating life as we at Footlights are celebrating our 40th anniversary too! We wanted to put on a show that encompasses everything about belonging to an amateur theatre group. So much goes on behind the scenes and we have 40 years of memories to draw on, so some of what the audience will see actually happened in the old Regency Hall! Having Maggie and Joanne here, adding some West End polish to the show, has been such a treat and we’re very grateful to them both.”

Pingleford Players Proudly Present! will run at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, from Monday, May 29, to Saturday, June 3. See local press nearer the time for tickets or visit the Facebook page by searching ‘Saundersfoot Footlights’.
