Welsh fresh produce brand Blas y Tir are celebrating with Ty Hafan, after raising an amazing £11,000, enough to support the Welsh children’s charity for an entire day.
The fundraising, which took place throughout the summer ranged from a charity ball organised and hosted by Blas y Tir, to 4 members of the 135-strong team taking part in the Ty Hafan 3 Welsh Peaks Challenge, climbing Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan within 15 hours in June. “Summer is always a busy time with our Pembrokeshire Earlies in stores throughout Wales, but it was the perfect opportunity to raise a load of money for an amazing cause” explains Megan, Marketing Executive from Blas y Tir. “The two biggest contributors were without doubt the Blas y Tir Pure Pembrokeshire Gold Charity Ball and 3 Welsh Peaks Challenge, with both requiring perseverance and hard work by the Blas y Tir team!
The £11,000 also includes generous donations from the public on the Blas y Tir stand at the Pembrokeshire County Show, as well as the Blas y Tir team taking part in the immensely popular Ty Hafan Rainbow Run. “We had great fun at the Rainbow Run, with some staff running and others volunteering on a paint station, it took a while to get the paint out!” explained Megan.
Shelley Kirkham, a Regional Fundraising manager for Ty Hafan, said: “Blas y Tir has paid for a whole day of care at Ty Hafan which is absolutely fantastic. The £11,000 will go towards caring for children and their families at our hospice, based in Sully, as well as support for families in their own homes. The work is vital in helping life-limited children and their families make the most of the precious time they have left together. We can’t thank Blas y Tir enough for their support – it will make such a difference to the hundreds of families we care for from across Wales. ”
