Car parking spaces on land under the ownership of Saundersfoot Community Council, are to be made available for users of facilities alongside the site.
Following a lengthy discussion at a this month’s meeting of the village’s Community Council, it was proposed and seconded that a ‘pilot scheme’ be launched and that the 17 vehicle parking spaces (including the two either side of the gateway and the disabled space), for a trial period of time, be made available exclusively for Bowling Club members (while playing); Regency Hall users (while attending classes); and Sports Club members (while attending the club).
It was further proposed and seconded that the day-to-day management of vehicles parking in these spaces and the distribution of the Council supplied parking permits will be carried out by the Regency Hall, Bowling Club and Sports and Social Club committee/staff members.
Appropriate signage is to be put on display informing members of the public that: the car park is now for private use only; all vehicles are required to display an appropriate parking permit; vehicles not displaying an appropriate permit will be reported to a reputable self-ticketing company and a fine issued; no vehicles to be parked overnight.
On this matter, county councillor for Saundersfoot’s South Ward, Cllr Chris Williams has also backed the trial parking pilot, after talking with all the various organisations.
“All the organisations are struggling and the need is to protect these village facilities,” he stated in his report to the Community Council this month.
“I asked if these spaces can be prioritised for members and they can organise between themselves.
“As the Community Council own the land, it would be good if they are able to help out until we can come up with a plan for the future,” added Cllr Williams.
