Pembroke Rotary Club has celebrated the eighth year of running its Community Raffle at the South Pembrokeshire Golf Club.
Ten prizes were drawn from a lottery box that contained over 3,700 tickets, bringing the total raised in excess of £36,000 over the eight year period and benefiting 30 local charitable organisations who retained the income from selling the tickets at £1 each, all the cost being met by the Rotary Club and its sponsor. The winning tickets were drawn by Club President Gavin: 1st Prize of £300 was sold by 2nd Pembroke Dock Brownies; 2nd Prize of £200 was sold by 2nd Pembroke Dock Brownies; 3rd Prize of £100 was sold by HOPE MS Therapy Centre.
Seven further, non-cash prizes were also drawn - generously donated by Rotarians and their contacts: Bottles of wine, bottle of Grouse whisky, bottle of Grants whisky, Christmas hampers, £20 meat voucher, boxes of chocolates and a wheelbarrow.
The event on November 23 provided partnering organisations the opportunity to draw attention to their particular causes and were entertained by guitarist Roger Ferris.
President Gavin thanked Bernie Scourfield for his tireless work in arranging this event for the eighth time and raising over £36,000 for local charities.
The Rotary Club of Pembroke expressed gratitude for the support of its members, wives, partners and friends who help make the Raffle a success for local causes. Their thanks also go to Haven Self Storage for absorbing the printing costs, and to the staff of the Golf Club who provided the excellent finger buffet.
