Residents who regularly use the Whitland to Pembroke Dock line are advised of disruption to their journeys.
The disruption is down to Network Rail closing the whole line as they undertake significant engineering work at Pembroke tunnel which the publicly-owned company says “will improve the resilience and reliability of the railway for passengers.”
Between Sunday, January 19, and Saturday, February 8, engineers will work day and night to install rock anchors and bolts before installing the rock netting across the railway cutting using road rail vehicles and specialist machinery.
This will result in the whole line being closed for that period, with replacement bus services running between Pembroke Dock and Carmarthen to connect with train services.
Michael Pinkerton, scheme project manager for Wales and Borders, said: “We would like to thank residents in advance for their patience and understanding as we carry out this work at Pembroke tunnel.
“All this planned essential work forms part of our commitment to maintain a safe and reliable railway that is fit for use now and in the future.
