A resident of Tenby’s Paxton Court which overlooks the coastal town’s iconic North Beach and Harbour, has written to the Observer to banish what she called ‘mis-information’ with regards to work being carried out at the premises.
The architecturally striking development which was completed in 2014 by award-winning developers McCarthy Stone sits on White Lion Street, with the collection of apartments exclusive for retirees aged 55 and over.
However, resident Sylvie Morgan wanted to shutdown the rumour-mill about the premises, when she contacted the paper last week.
“It would appear that due to complete mis-information, word is being put about that the extensive work being carried out at Paxton Court is making the re-sale of the apartments in the building difficult; this is totally untrue and needs to be corrected. In fact, we have a new homeowner moving in within the next few weeks,” she stated.
“McCarthy Stone have been carrying out ‘Fire Safety Works’ to bring our building up to date with the current fire regulations implemented following the Grenfell Tower disaster.
“They have not asked homeowners to contribute any payment towards this work and have in fact carried out work above and beyond the actual necessary work.
“We have always had a very safe building, with all checks carried out on a weekly basis and it is quite obvious that McCarthy Stone wish to ensure that the building and homeowner’s safety remain at the very highest level.
“Speaking for myself as a resident, I am enormously grateful that I am living in a building that gives me such pleasure, security and at the same time safety, having lived here for the last five-and-a-half years I could not wish for anywhere nicer – warm and safe in the centre of town, what more could one ask!” Sylvie added.
