Mr. David (Dave) Day passed away suddenly at his home in Pembroke on May 19, aged 87. He was born in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, in 1928.
During the war he worked in agriculture in Lincolnshire alongside Land Army girls where he met his wife Audrey. He moved to Pembrokeshire with his family in 1955 and lived at Manorbier Newton, where he established Fernhill Nurseries, specialising in daffodils as well as cucumber and tomato plants, for which he was renowned throughout the county.
He and Audrey retired to Pembroke in 1999 where he continued his love of horticulture by visiting public gardens across the country.
The funeral service, which was conducted by the Rev. Andrew Grace, took place at Manorbier Church on June 1. He was carried by his grandsons and interred in the idyllic churchyard.
Dave leaves to mourn his wife Audrey, daughters Sandra (Paul), Christine (Alan) and Lindy and grandchildren Steven, Andrew (Sarah), Sian, Lee (Hayley), Mike (Becks), Nicol, Chani (John), David (Kayleigh), Kira (Sean); great-grandchildren Arabella, Sofia, Isaac, Aled, Maggie Rose, Marni, Kamika, Mayan, Paige, Jake, Finn, Theo, Lili, Mason and Tyler.

PEMBROKE
The death occurred suddenly at home, on Monday, of Mrs. Susan Jean Hartfield, of Norgans Terrace, Pembroke.
Affectionately known as Sue, aged 59, she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
The funeral service will take place at Monkton Priory Church, Pembroke, on Friday, June 17, at 12.30 pm, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, at 1.45 pm.

The death occurred suddenly, but peacefully, at her home on Tuesday, May 24, of Margaret Ann Richards, formerly of Rose Cottage, Maidenwells, Pembroke. She was 68.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, June 14, with a service at Gilead CM Church, Maidenwells, at 2 pm, followed by interment in the churchyard.

Pembroke
The death occurred peacefully at Pembroke Haven Residential Home on Tuesday, May 31, of Mr. Eric Robinson, of Kingsbridge Drive, Pembroke. He was 91 and one of the few surviving Normandy veterans.
The funeral will take place today (Friday, June 10) with a service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 12.15 pm.

The death occurred peacefully at Ashdale Care Home, Pembroke, on Thursday, June 2, of Mrs. Linda Kate Perkins, formerly of Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock, affectionately known as Kate, aged 68 years.
Kate will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

MR. M. HICKS
REDBERTH
As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on Thursday, May 5, of Mr. Melvyn Hicks, of School House, Redberth.
Fondly known as Mel, he was aged 68 years.
A native of Carew, after leaving school, Melvyn joined the family building business, J. Hicks and Sons, and served his apprenticeship as a stonemason, attending Neyland Technical College on day release. In 1980, Melvyn started work on his own and continued with his business until poor health forced him to retire in 2010.
Among his main interests was music. He had been a member of the Wesley Victors and later on the Cotton Pickers with Max Cole and Gerald Williams, while more recently and up until his death he had been a popular member of the Quaynotes Choir.
Perhaps his greatest joy, though, was playing golf, being a member of Tenby Golf Club. He was also a member of the Cresselly and District branch of the Royal British Legion.
As well as his wife Bronwen Hicks, family left to mourn are Nerys and Simon Hosker-Hicks (daughter and son-in-law); Iolo and Guto Hosker-Hicks (grandsons); Elvina Griffiths (sister); Reg and Val Hicks, Gerald and Jenny Hicks (brothers and sisters-in-law); Wendy and Aled Davies (sister and brother-in-law); Michael and Rhoswen Brace (brother-in-law and sister-in-law); Jeremy and Jenny, Paula and Mark, Mark, Robert and Melanie, George and Joanne, Bryan and Emma, Rebecca and Andy, Tim and Dilly, Tom (nephews and nieces and partners) and many others too numerous to mention.
Unable to attend the funeral were Hannah Davies (niece) and Mark Brace (nephew).
The funeral took place on Tuesday, May 17, at Carew Wesley Chapel, and was followed by burial at Carew Cheriton cemetery.
Officiating was Rev. Lorette Hinson, while bearers were Jeremy Griffiths, Mark Hicks, Tim Hicks, Tom Davies (nephews), Michael Brace (brother-in-law) and Gerald Williams (life-long friend).

ALICE (POPPY) SAUNDERS
(formerly of Tenby)
Poppy passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, at Nova House Care Home, Seaford, East Sussex. She was aged 102.
Poppy was born in Rainow, a village in Cheshire, on October 15, 1913.
She met and married Robert, who was from St. Florence, and they lived most of their married life in Penally. Eventually, Poppy moved to Tenby.
Poppy owned and ran hotels and bed and breakfasts until well into her 80s.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and a keen member of Tenby Arts Club.
In 2005, she moved to Seaford in East Sussex to be near her son David, who sadly passed away in 2007.
Poppy was loved and admired by all those who knew her.
Left to mourn are Sue (her daughter-in-law), Tomos and Alice (grandchildren), Charley, Hollie and Mary (great-grandchildren), and Sue (her niece) and family.
Poppy’s funeral was held on Friday, June 3, at Eastbourne Crematorium, attended by family and friends.
MR. V. V. DARWENT
PEMBROKE DOCK
As previously reported, the death occurred peacefully, at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on Thursday, May 12, of Mr. Vincent Victor Darwent, of 11 Clarence Street, Pembroke Dock.
Affectionately known as Vinny, he was aged 81.
A native of Sheffield, he initially served an apprenticeship as a boiler-maker plater, while National Service saw him spend two years in the Royal Navy.
He worked at various dockyards, including Immingham, before helping to build the Esso refinery in the early 1970s. He was later foreman plater at Hancocks shipyard, Pembroke Dock, Jenkins and Davies, Barn Lake and finally Ledwood Construction.
Among his main interests and pastimes were football, darts, card games, cliff walking with the dogs, and wildlife.
As well as his wife Kathleen Myfanwy Darwent, family left to mourn include children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on May 24.
Officiating was the Rev, Huw George, while bearers were Shaun Williams (nephew), Bob Shilling, Mike Newton and Tommy Blair (good friends).

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Park House Court Nursing Home, Tenby, on Sunday, May 29, of Mrs. Pauline Clarice Owen, aged 88 years.

The deaths occurred tragically on Thursday, April 28, of Mr. Gareth Willington, aged 59 years, affectionately known as Spike, of Cresselly, and his son Mr. Daniel Willington, aged 32 years, of Carew.
Gareth and Daniel will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by their respective families and many friends.

MR. H. GUY
KILGETTY
The funeral took place, recently, of Mr. Haydn Guy, of Lynette, Hill Lane, Kilgetty, who passed away on April 26. He was 93.
He was born in Crofty, The Gower, the third child of Ambrose and Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his older brothers Gwyn and Elwyn and survived by his younger sisters Mair and Maida.
He served his apprenticeship as a bricklayer in The Gower. He met his wife to be, Freda, at the outbreak of World War II whilst working in Pembrokeshire and married in 1943, before being posted to North Africa with the Ninth Lancers.
He took part in the battle of Monte Cassino in the Italian Campaign and became part of the occupying army where he played football with Tom Finney.
After the war ended, he returned home to his wife and soon his children, Annette and Lyn, were born. He quickly set up his own business and was a successful building contractor for the next 35 years.
He also had a number of holiday properties and Guys Villas and Guys Maisonettes are named after him.
His Christian commitment was very important to him and in the ’60s and ’70s he became a very popular lay preacher.
He was instrumental in bringing Welsh Evangelist David Shepherd to the area and helped set up the Pembokeshire Branch of the Gideons.
He was also a very successful bowler being a member of the Tenby and Saundersfoot Clubs. He gained his Welsh representative honours and won many trophies, including the Tenby Open Week Gold Cup and the Saundersfoot Open Week Singles and Pairs competitions. He still loved to support both clubs even after his playing days were over. In recent years, he has found great support from the Savation Army in Tenby, regularly attending the Sunday service, the Monday Lunch Club and the coffee mornings.
As life slowed down for Haydn, he loved nothing better than to be surrounded by his family and this is how he spent his final days.
The funeral service was held at the Salvation Army Hall in Tenby on May 9, followed by interment at Cold Inn Baptist Chapel
Officiating were Captain David Morgans and Major Martyn Clements.
Left to mourn are his wife Mrs. Beatrice Elfreda Mary Guy; children Annette and Lyn; grandchildren Deborah, Stephen, Jonathan and Leanne; great-grandchidren Tilly, Jack, Dexter, Imogen and Olivia; sisters Mair andMaida.
Bearers were Lyn Guy, Jonathan Hicks, David Hilling and Chris Monks
