I would like to wish all readers of the Tenby Observer a happy New Year and hope that you have had a fun and enjoyable Christmas.
The New Year is traditionally a time to look forward with renewed hope and optimism.
As I write, that hope and optimism is understandably being tested.
Like everyone, I had hoped that by now Covid would be mostly behind us, but unfortunately that is not the case.
However, we have to play the hand that we are dealt and it is time for us all to roll our sleeves up once again, physically and metaphorically.
I have been heartened by the response from the entire community to the Omicron variant and the desire to do what is right to help keep ourselves and others safe.
The fantastic NHS staff, supported by our dedicated Council colleagues, are stepping up once again.
It has been a tough 20+ months and we have come so far together. We cannot let our guard down now.
Following measures to prevent transmission and taking up vaccinations and boosters are the way out of this pandemic.
Make getting vaccinated and boosted your New Year’s Resolution for 2022.
I wish you all a happy and healthy 2022.
Pembrokeshire County Council leader,
Clr. David Simpson
