All 17 members left Kilgetty on a coach trip to the Botanic Gardens on one of the hottest days of the year so far.
Kath the President opened the June meeting on the move. She welcomed everyone and thanked Anne for organising the day, going on to discuss the main points from the NFWI Annual meeting which had been written by Monica. Firstly the discussion over the resolutions - Clean rivers for people and wildlife, then news about the sale of Denman and the project of the online education hubs. Also the newsletter with numerous activities, days out and crafts going on in the next few months.
Funding was discussed and donations to local charities and women’s groups.
A bench outside the community hall has been decided but not finalised. Buddy benches have been discussed for Stepaside school. These are playground benches on which children can sit if they feel lonely. Members agreed that this was a good idea and voted for liaison by Kath and the committee to accommodate it.
The ladies arrived at the Botanic Gardens by 10am and had a really lovely day, although very hot! Some took packed lunches while others had some delicious food in the cafe and restaurant areas. There was so much to see and do with lots of shaded areas to just sit, eat ice-cream and enjoy some time there. The raffle was drawn on the coach and Kath won.
Arriving back at Kilgetty, the temperature was 30 degrees, according to the coach driver.
Next meeting will be July 11 at 4pm and will be held in the community gardens or inside the hall if weather is poor. Cream tea and drinks will be provided. Members are reminded to bring own chair and to dress for a garden party. The competition will be a decorated hat! If any member would like to help, they are asked to arrive before 4pm.
Visitors are always welcome.
