Manorbier resident Molly Bradley-Kidd is still raising money for the village church at age 100.
Molly’s birthday party on Friday, February 23 raised £300 for St James’ Church, as there was a policy of donations instead of presents.
Centrepiece of the impressive spread at her home in Manorbier was a cake reading ‘Happy 100th Birthday Molly’ with floral design and sparkler candles
Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla sent best wishes in a card with a photograph of the royal couple.
Back in her school days, Molly actually had lunch with the king’s father, Prince Philip, when Charles was only two years old! It was in Suez. Having been allowed to miss school for the lunch - ‘Who am I to prevent you from having lunch with Prince Philip?’ her headmaster reasoned - she chatted with Prince Philip and remembers being concerned as he went to swim straight after the meal.
Molly, who was born on February 23, 1924 in Istanbul, Turkey, can still speak Turkish to this day.
She spent many years raising money for the NSPCC and has done a tremendous amount for Manorbier and the village’s parish church, St James Church, with her late husband Milton.
