The newly-refurbished fitness suite at Bloomfield House Community Centre was opened recently by local triathlete Oliver Simon.
Narberth and District Community and Sports Association (NDCSA) received a £59,965 funding boost from SITA Trust for the refurburbishment which took place this summer.
NDCSA is a registered charity and community association that operates Bloomfield House Community Centre in Narberth.
NDCSA chair Glinys Meredydd said: “We now have new equipment, lighting and ventilation systems in place. We were delighted to receive the SITA grant at a time when fitness is so important to health and wellbeing and as this sort of provision is being cut elsewhere.”
Oliver Simon attended the centre from a young age. The top local athlete and Tenby Long Course Weekend winner said: “I hope that the new fitness suite encourages people to get active and achieve their fitness goals.”
It has all new free weights, resistance equipment and aerobic equipment and with single sessions starting from £3.50 is an affordable way to keep active.
Marianne Ivin, of SITA Trust, added: “This fitness suite forms part of a large and very well used community centre. We were happy to be able to help fund the refurbishment of the suite and in turn help with the increased health and wellbeing of the local community.
“SITA Trust provides grants through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.4 billion.”
