A public meeting is to be held tomorrow (Tuesday, October 15) concerning social care provision following the imminent closure of a day care centre in Pembroke Dock.
Anchorage Centre staff, service users and their families, were informed of the County Council’s decision to close the centre on November 1, despite it having been a “safe and happy place” for adults with learning difficulties and additional needs for decades.
Plans for the ongoing provision of social care revolve around the Meadow Park facility in Haverfordwest, but relatives and carers point out that many of the centre’s clients are physically unable to undertake the journey to the county town, and are keen to see further provision within the town of Pembroke Dock.
The meeting, which will be held at St John’s Community Hall in Bush Street, will start at 10am and last around an hour.
