Oil beetles are conspicuous, charismatic insects with fascinating life cycles. they can be found in flower-rich meadows, open woodlands and along coastal footpaths and spring is the perfect time to go looking for them.
The workshop, at Bosherston Village Hall in Pembrokeshire next Wednesday, covers the life cycle, ecology, identification and recording of oil beetles in Wales, in particular the Short-necked Oil Beetle, Wales’ rarest oil beetle and known only from Pembrokeshire.
The Training Day starts at 10am and will start with an indoor session in the morning involving a talk on oil beetles; followed by a walk on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path near Broad Haven South beach searching for oil beetles.
