Pembrokeshire’s Thomas Marsh will be bringing his international Jazz Trio to Twr y Felin Hotel in St Davids on Sunday evening, August 25, 7pm-9pm.

The Trio, with guitarist Tom Henery and drummer Henry Wakley, will be playing a mix of original compositions, unique takes on jazz standards, brand new arrangements and reimagined versions of the songs they love from across the musical spectrum.

Originally from St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Thomas Marsh is an up and coming bassist and composer, now based in Birmingham. Having graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2023, he released his debut album ‘What’s Wrong With Rain?’ in 2023, played the Lava International Jazz Festival in The Azores, Portugal, and recently recorded with this new collaborative trio project at Abbey Road Studios.

During his time at the conservatoire, alongside being co-host of Jazz at The Ruin, Digbeth, Thomas Marsh had the opportunity to play with and learn from many of the greats of the UK and international jazz scene – as well as at prestigious venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival with the Parabola Quintets.  He is influenced by a wide range of music from folk, rock, and blues, to all forms of jazz, including musicians such as Charles Mingus, Julian Lage, and John Martyn.

Guitarist Tom Henery also graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2023. He has since established himself performing and recording alongside the likes of Neil Yates and Lucy Mellenfield. His playing is heavily informed by the greats of Wes Montgomery and John Scofield, while also incorporating his influences from the folk tradition to create a unique sound.

Originally from Milton Keynes, Henry Wakley’s journey has been shaped by diverse influences from Pat Metheny and John Scofield, to the timeless compositions of Paul Simon. Now based in the vibrant musical hub of Birmingham, Henry weaves these influences into his own unique sound.
