This August, SPAN Arts presents Swyn, an atmospheric new outdoor performance staged in the heart of the lush and tranquil Colby Woodland Gardens near Amroth.
Surrounded by towering trees, birdsong and the magic of the Pembrokeshire landscape, this multi-sensory show invites audiences to pause, gather and connect.
Inspired by the Pembrokeshire coastline, Celtic heritage, and the artists’ own lived experiences, Swyn (the Welsh word for “spell” or “charm”) explores the rituals of rural life and the rhythms of nature. Through a powerful fusion of contemporary circus, acrobatic dance, bilingual storytelling, and original song, this performance celebrates seasonality and ceremony, offering a quiet, profound reflection on the relationship between land, labour, and the female body.

The show on Saturday, August 2 has been created by Collective Flight Syrcas – a collaboration between three Pembrokeshire-based artists, Hannah, Meg and Emma – who met through a shared love of circus and a deep connection to the rural landscape of West Wales.
The show is performed on an outdoor aerial rig, surrounded by symbolic props—pails of water, large pots of flowers—alongside a bespoke soundtrack that draws the audience into a timeless world.
Audiences are encouraged to bring a blanket or a camping chair, dress for the weather, and settle into the beautiful surroundings of Colby’s meadow for this outdoor performance. Whether you’re a circus enthusiast, a lover of dance, or simply seeking something special in nature, Swyn promises to be a soulful and stirring afternoon for all ages.

The performances, each approximately 45 minutes, will take place at 1pm and 4pm respectively.
