Members of the community are invited to an open house at ‘Falcon House’ on Admiralty Way, Pembroke Port.
Falcon House is one of four newly refurbished annexes adjoining the iconic Sunderland Hangars which have been transformed by the Port of Milford Haven, as part of the Swansea Bay City Deal-backed Pembroke Dock Marine Project.
The four Grade 11 listed annexes have been renovated to provide new office and workshop spaces to support the establishment of Pembroke Port as a world class centre for marine energy and engineering.
The open house event takes place on September 15 between 3pm-6pm.
On the same evening, Pembroke Port will host the Torch Theatre for a Sunset Cinema screening of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, which will be shown in the open air outside the Western Sunderland Hangar at sunset. Tickets will be £13 in advance, or £15 on the gate. Gates will open at 7pm and the film will start when light permits. Tickets for the evening screening are available to purchase from the Torch Theatre. To celebrate its connections with the iconic movie spaceship, Pembroke Port will donate a percentage of profits from the event to Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre, which is home to the Pembroke Dock Falcon exhibition.
Sharon Adams, Commercial Manager for Pembroke Port said: “We are very proud to be able to show the community all the hard work that has been put into redeveloping the Hangar Annexes to help support the developments here at Pembroke Port. We are also excited to welcome the Torch Theatre for an extra special Star Wars themed Sunset Cinema at Pembroke Port that evening! It’s going to be a really fantastic occasion and we’re all looking forward to welcoming the local community behind the gates for the day.”
Mark Williams, Project Manager, Pembroke Dock Falcon said: “It is amazing that Pembroke Port has partnered with the Torch Theatre for this event. We are incredibly excited to see 'The Empire Strikes Back', the very film that brought Star Wars to Pembroke Dock, being shown right here in the town next to the hangar where the Falcon was constructed. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the local community to, once again, come together and celebrate the story of the Pembroke Dock Falcon.”
The Hangar Annexes development is part of the Swansea Bay City Deal-backed Pembroke Dock Marine project which is funded by the UK Government, Welsh Government and through the public and private sectors. It is also part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
