Tenby Library had a selection of the Booker Prize Longlist books in with the new fiction this month, including all of the Shortlisted books.
There is also a display of books: Recommended by Your Librarian; some of these books were recommended by staff at Tenby, and so were previously in the Staff Picks display, but staff from all the branches contributed to this collection.
Other new fiction includes novels by Ann Cleeves, Sebastian Faulks, Robert Goddard, and Mick Herron. New non-fiction includes ‘Nomad Century’ by Gaia Vince, an assessment on how climate change influences the migration of peoples; ‘Be a Birder’ by Hamza Yassin, the Scottish wildlife cameraman, television presenter and 2022 winner of Strictly Come Dancing; and ‘The Strength of Love’ by Kate Garraway MBE, exploring the impact of trauma and the importance of resilience and adaptability in recovering from it.
Baby Rhyme Time is now back, on Monday mornings during term-time at 10:30-11am with stories and songs for pre-schoolers and their adults.
Friday afternoons in Tenby are for Lego Club, every Friday 3-4:30pm, all through the year. This is a free, drop-in activity; just come around and make something wonderful. Your creation will be on display for two weeks before the Lego is reused to make something else. There are also Lego Clubs in Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock and Milford libraries on other days.
The Alive and Kicking Library Ball Project is still running in library branches in Tenby and Pembroke Dock, and the Regency Hall in Saundersfoot. Balls of various sizes are available for borrowing for sport or fun, and it’s open to everyone. Just come in or call and talk to staff.
Narberth Library has been running out of the Bloomfield Centre with only basic facilities available. The temporary library will close tomorrow, Thursday, October 5 as the branch at St James Street will reopen on Saturday, October 7.
