Since 2022 Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard have been helping young people get into the arts through their unique bursary. And this year for the first time ever they’re inviting you to witness the auditions!
Abigail's Arts Award was established through the generosity of the Goswell family. Abigail Goswell passed away in 2020 from secondary breast cancer. She was passionate about the arts and this is just part of her brilliant legacy. The scheme offers bursaries for young artists, musicians and other performers in Pembrokeshire to help them in their chosen careers. Each year two young people aged 16-25 are selected from all the applicants – and this year the theatre are doing it in public!
The top six shortlisted applicants chosen by the judges will be performing their work on stage at Theatr Gwaun on Saturday, May 4, 3-5pm. Expect drama, percussion, singing, rapping, guitar playing, trumpet playing and plenty of surprises! At the end of the show in front of a live audience the final winners will be announced!
There will also be performances from last year’s winners: Dylan Swales from Johnston, Narberth singer songwriter Tomos Newman and Goodwick actress Storm Rose Knapp-Fisher.
Abigails’ sister Emma Goswell will host the event: “I can’t wait to show off our finalists. I think people will be very impressed with the level of talent on show in Pembrokeshire.”
“It’s a tough time for the arts and especially young artists so it’s wonderful to be able to support them and showcase their skills. Tell your friends and I hope to see as many of you as possible on May 4!”
