Throughout this year, Greenhill School’s TAMARR pupils have been enjoying regular well-being visits with Binky and Zambu from Cŵn Cymorth Cariad / Cariad Pet Therapy.
Benefitting from the magical connection, these visits have enabled a feeling of calmness and comfort and both Binky and Zambu have become firm favourites with all of our pupils.
It has been very evident from these visits that spending time with therapy dogs enables a feeling of calmness and can have a long-lasting impact on pupil well-being in several ways including comfort and support, reducing stress and anxiety, encouraging social interaction, and improving mood.
To show their gratitude for all the wonderful visits, children have been super busy organising a fundraising Bake Sale. Pupil-led, the immediate focus has been to raise funds as a thank-you, however the project has also covered several learning areas: Literacy, Numeracy, DT skills, Home Baking, IT skills and poster design.
TAMARR pupils have displayed amazing teamwork, with everyone having a role to play whether planning, contributing ingredients, baking, or selling at our recent Bake Sale, all have been keen to show their appreciation.
Greenhill’s TAMARR pupils would like to say a huge thank you to all those who so generously contributed, baked, and bought at their bake sale held on July 6.
Your kindness and support enabled them to raise a staggering £164.61 for the amazing Dogs at Cariad Pet Therapy whom they welcomed to Ysgol Greenhill for a final visit before the Summer Break presenting them with a cheque on behalf of all the pupils in TAMARR.
The school thanks Neil and Binky, Jill and Zambu and looks forward to continuing visits in September, learning more about all their fantastic work in the community.
