Last month Cylch Meithrin Hywel Dda staff, committee and trustees attended the Mudiad Meithrin annual Awards Ceremony at The Arts Centre, Aberystwyth University where they enjoyed success on the night.
This is an opportunity for Welsh medium early years settings to be recognised for their hard work and there were over 300 nominations received from all over Wales for the 10 categories.
The Cylch Meithrin in Whitland had been nominated in three categories - Cylch Meithrin, Leader and Dewin and Doti.
They were extremely pleased to receive 3rd prize for Leader, 2nd prize for Dewin and Doti, and absolutely delighted to receive 1st prize in the Cylch Meithrin category!
“There are 390 Cylchoedd Meithrin in Wales so to be awarded 1st prize out of every Cylch Meithrin in Wales is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with Cylch Meithrin Hywel Dda in Whitland,” said Jayne Williams from the playgroup.
“It means so much to the staff, voluntary committee and trustees, and the families and children attending the Cylch Meithrin.
“We are very fortunate to be located in the grounds of Ysgol Llys Hywel and are grateful for the support from headteacher Mrs. Roberts and her staff which benefits the young children and ensures a smooth transition when the children start full time education at Ysgol Llys Hywel.
“A successful Cylch also relies on the support of the local community and we are extremely fortunate in Whitland to receive plenty of support throughout the year from many local businesses and the residents of Whitland and surrounding areas and for this we are very grateful,” she added.
Staff and toddlers of the Cylch Ti a Fi Hywel Dda group in Whitland are also celebrating receiving third place in the ‘Cylch Ti a Fi’ category at the recent Mudiad Meithrin Awards Ceremony.
The award is for the parent and toddler group that meets on a Friday.
“This is a fantastic achievement as there are currently 254 Cylch Ti a Fi throughout Wales,” said Jayne Williams from the playgroup.
