The April meeting of East Williamston Community and Hall Association was held recently.

Members heard from the secretary that two benches had been purchased for Jubilee Park, one to hold the plaque presented at the official opening and the other donated by East Williamston Community Council in memory of Clr. Arthur Hughes. The local gardening club has offered to help with any works needed to enhance the appearance of the park, and will meet there on Thursday to see what needs to be done.

The latest exciting project, the village allotments site, is now ready. A new entrance, parking, paths and fencing have been completed and several people are already on the list for renting, with plans to begin working there any day - first come first served for the prime sites, but there are 20 full sized plots and four half-sized plots to choose from. A donation of 14 compost bins has been made for gardeners' use.

Doug McIntosh and Ian Wilkinson attended the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens gathering at the National Botanic Gardens and found the information and advice given very helpful. The latter may be contacted on 813778 by anyone interested in renting a plot.

Committee members have not received any suggestions for diamond jubilee celebrations people would like to see arranged, so it has been decided that a special jubilee quiz will be held, with the hall suitably decorated and more imaginative snacks available than at the regular monthly events.

The quizzes are always popular and the last one, attracted eight teams - more tables and chairs even had to be hastily assembled. Thanks are due to David and Hayley for setting the questions, which were enjoyed by all. The next quiz will be tomorrow (Saturday) and Lyn, who is question master, has promised a different slant on the rounds. Do come and join in the fun, all are welcome. Bar opens at 7.30 pm in the East Williamston Community Hall, and the quiz begins at 8.

The carbon cook-off competition, held in the hall, was a great success, as mentioned in a previous press report. It was deemed by the committee to be a light-hearted yet thought- provoking evening, enjoyed by competitors and audience alike. It was very pleasing to welcome visitors from as far away as Narberth to the event.
