Some very special visitors took part in the August 17 photo call in front of Saundersfoot’s ‘Lonely Tree’ to promote the newly formed Saundersfoot’s ‘Lonely Tree’ Preservation Society. Pictured are Clr. James Baker who is Borough Councillor for Horley in Surrey along with his charming niece Emily Baker, meeting Saundersfoot’s own Clr. Phil Baker BEM, County Councillor for Saundersfoot.
“James has been very supportive providing advice and guidance to help with the campaign to save our iconic Monterey Cypress on Saundersfoot Beach and gave a generous donation to the ‘Lonely Tree’ Fund” said Nicky Mallen, Treasurer of the newly formed Society. “We discovered that the Baker family, who are regular visitors to Saundersfoot, are also responsible for those amazing creative sand castle projects we see pop up on Saundersfoot Beach.”
Nicky went on to say “We are also extremely grateful to our own Councillor, Phil Baker, who has been able to attend our meetings in an advisory capacity as he brings with him a wealth of experience working with local government and as a member of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Development Management Committee.”
Saundersfoot’s ‘Lonely Tree’ Preservation Society are indebted to local photographer Gareth Davies for his expertise in carrying out the photo call. You can find out more about the campaign to save Saundersfoot’s ‘Lonely Tree’ by joining Save Saundersfoot’s Lonely Tree Facebook group.
