The Community Fridge at Tenby is based at the Old Chapel on Lower Frog Street and is open whenever the community café is open - usually Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 3pm.

The aim of the Community Fridge is to rescue food that would otherwise be thrown out by the local supermarkets, and enable people to pop in and pick up anything they are able to use. It has saved hundreds of kilos of perfectly edible food.

The facility relies of a group of willing volunteers to keep going, and there is always space on the team for more. Volunteers go in each morning to check the fridge temperature and make sure it is clean and tidy ready for the day; others pop in in the afternoon to check the temperatures. And it is also volunteers who do the amazing job of going round the local supermarkets in the evening to collect all the food that supermarkets would otherwise put in a skip.

Why not visit the Old Chapel to see if there is any food there that you can use? And if you are able to offer any help - even for just half an hour each week, make yourself known.
