RNLI Saundersfoot Branch had a brilliant Bank Holiday weekend starting with the Saundersfoot Rotary Duck Race.
Volunteers were out in the rain selling-out ducks in record time before helping to launch them over the harbour wall with some brave souls even going knee deep in the harbour to make sure no ducks could escape and swim over to Coppet!
On Monday, Stormy Stan came to the village for a catch-up and loved all the photos taken with visitors as he wandered around with our Branch President and was delighted to meet up with the Saundersfoot Rotary Duck who came along to the shop to present the branch with a cheque for £1,000 raised from the Duck Race! Huge thanks go to all who made the it happen and to everyone who bought a duck.
On the beach on Monday they had over 100 children hunting for a pebble they could enter into the Great Saundersfoot Magical Mystery Pebble Competition. Entries included pebbles that looked like skulls, faces, claws and a puffin and after some difficult judging by branch volunteers and Stormy Stan.
Prizes including a voucher for Periwinkle Pottery, RNLI teddy bear, binoculars and badges were given out before the pebbles were taken down to the sea and thrown in while making a wish. It was a free activity with donations raising £174.62. Thank you to all who took part and to Cyril whose idea sparked the event.
Volunteers also enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the community - hearing stories of RNLI rescues, visitors’ experiences of volunteering for the RNLI where they live, and giving information to those considering volunteering here in Saundersfoot.
