Eight members of Kilgetty WI attended a ceremony for the handing over of a ‘buddy bench’ at Stepaside CP School on Tuesday morning.

A great way to make new friends and combat social anxiety, a buddy bench is a bench for children can sit on if they feel in need of a friend or a ‘buddy’. This also helps children to understand the feelings of others and teaches them to be kind and caring towards other people.

Members of the WI are pictured at the presentation of the bench along with children of the school and their headmaster, Mr Peter Jones.

Kilgetty WI is a friendly group with a broad age range, welcoming new members at every meeting. The group meets on the second Tuesday each month at 7pm, in the Community Centre in Kilgetty. Meetings feature a diverse range of speakers and activities throughout the year, as well as a competition and a raffle.
