PEMBROKESHIRE Historical Society, for its next meeting, will welcome as its guest speaker Edward Perkins, auctioneer, land agent and one of Wales’ foremost authorities on the history of agriculture.
As part of last year’s lecture programme, Mr Perkins entertained a large and enthusiastic audience with an account of agriculture in Pembrokeshire from earliest times up to the 19th century. For the second of what will be a trilogy of lectures, he will be considering the many changes in farming practices that took place before and after the First World War, as new crops were introduced and horse-power slowly gave way to steam power.
All are welcome to the lecture which will be on Friday, November 1, at the Pembrokeshire Archives in Prendergast, Haverfordwest, 2.30pm.
