The Carten100 charity cycle ride from Cardiff to Tenby will return this Saturday (September 18) - with the organisers’ aim to get people on their bikes to raise as much money as they can for good causes.

Past events have always been fun but challenging, and the Carten100 2020 was a very challenging year for all, with Covid-19 leading to the cancellation of the ride on three occasions - in May and September of 2020, and then May again of this year,

The popular event which sees thousands of riders take on the journey from the Welsh capital to the seaside resort, will be slightly different this year, with a finish at the home of Tenby AFC at The Clicketts just past Tenby Leisure Centre rather than the town’s harbour.

The riders route will instruct them to turn left shortly after the ‘Welcome to Tenby’ sign, staying on the A478, which then turns into the Norton where participants will have sight of Tenby Harbour before turning right around the town walls, before following the signs out of town, and then onto the Marsh Road before then turning right onto Clickett Lane.

The start times in Cardiff will be between 7 and 9 am, with a ‘rolling start’ in place to prevent bunching in the start pen.

The finish will not open until 1 pm so delay your start time if you are a flyer.

Tenby and District Lions will be on hand to provide finishers with food and refreshments ready. There will also be a bar to ensure you can re-hydrate before going into Tenby town centre or home!

There is a free car park at The Clicketts adjacent to the site so family and friends will be able to join riders at the finish.

There will also be discounted Carten100 clothing and posters available at the finish. The site will close at 8.30 pm

“We are delighted to run Carten100 after three postponements, but we respectfully remind you to ride safely on ride day and be mindful of the ongoing pressures on the emergency services. We are after all a ride, not a race!” said a spokesperson for the event.
