A leaflet to promote Whitland Abbey byway footpath, which has been sponsored by Whitland Town Council and designed by Camarthenshire Tourist Association in collaboration with the Hywel Dda Centre, will be launched next month. On Tuesday, July 1, all residents of the town of Whitland are invited to join the organisations in celebrating the public launch of the leaflet to promote the footpaths around the town. The walk will last approximately one hour and will commence at 6.30 pm from the Hywel Dda Centre. The route will pass the Fishers Hotel and through the fields towards the Gothic Abbey Mansion. It will progress over the ford by the old abbey ruins and through woodland back to the town via Parc Dr. Owen. Along the way will be horseshoes and pennies for children to find based on the laws of Hywel Dda. The leaflet will highlight the places of historic interest along the way and there will be refreshments available en route and in the Hywel Dda Centre where there are some exciting new displays. All are welcome to attend the event, which starts from 6.30 pm at the Hywel Dda Centre near the train station.
