The weather gods were very kind on Saturday and the East Williamston Fun Day was a great success with over £300 raised to contribute to the planned purchase of a special mower for the East Williamston Community Jubilee Park.
This will help with the excellent work done by the volunteer Friends of Jubilee Park – who are always looking for new recruits!
Lots of local families and friends came along to enjoy the free games as well as refreshments and the variety of stalls which included a magnificent range of home made cakes and savouries, a tombola, a raffle with two wonderful hampers – one of foodstuffs and one of garden produce.
Most of the prizes had been generously donated. And there were a few competitions for all including lucky dip and ‘naming a bear’, which came away with the fine name of Geraint!
This was the first opportunity to show off the newly refurbished bar area which will be a good place to enjoy a sociable drink in the future and an attractive facility for those who hire the Hall for events.
The Wales Air Ambulance’s little helicopter, their demonstrator, was a popular attraction and the East Williamston Community and Hall Association were delighted to support this much valued and much needed volunteer service.
With the fine weather and the bar open many sat outside in the sun enjoying freshly cooked beefburgers or a cup of tea with cakes.
The day was judged to be very enjoyable for all and another will be planned for the same time next year.
